Portland, Texas-November 3, 2026 – According to unofficial election results, voters in Gregory-Portland Independent School District (G-PISD) have approved the Attendance Credit Election (ACE), with 67.59% voting FOR and 32.41% voting AGAINST.

The election asked voters to authorize the G-PISD Board of Trustees to purchase attendance credits from the state using local tax revenues to fulfill the district's mandatory recapture obligations under Texas school finance law.

With voter approval, G-PISD can continue utilizing the purchase of attendance credits method to meet its recapture obligations. This method allows the district to maintain its existing boundaries and tax base while making the payments required by the state.

"We appreciate every member of our community who took the time to participate in this election and make their voice heard," said Dr. Michelle Cavazos, G-PISD Superintendent. "We remain committed to serving our students, supporting our staff, and providing high-quality educational opportunities for every child in Gregory-Portland ISD."

G-PISD thanks all community members who participated in the election and remained engaged throughout the process.

Election results remain unofficial until they are formally canvassed on Monday, November 16, 2026.
