Students and Families,

Have a super summer!  Spend lots of time outside and enjoying your time together.  I look forward to a great  year when we return. I will officially be Mrs. Salinas next school year, so start practicing the new name. :)  5th Graders, I will miss you so much!  Please keep up the hard work!  Keep on reading!   Love, Ms. Ezell

Please remember to check with your child DAILY to see if they have any homework.  While many just have a one week sheet or spelling practice, there may be additional papers sent home to correct or finish.  If you are having issues getting work done, please contact the teacher who sent it.

WOW!!!! What an amazing first three weeks we have had!  I can not believe how fast those three weeks flew by.  I can tell already this year is going to be a fast one.

I hope that your summer was relaxing and S L O W.  It never seems like we get enough time with family.  My goal this year is to balance family and work better.  There are many exciting things happening for me this year.  October 20th I will become Mrs. Salinas! I spent lots of time this summer planning my wedding, and can not wait for the big day.

I look forward to a fun year with your kiddos!  If you need to contact me I'm always available through email: kezell@g-pisd.org or through Remind by sending a text to 81010 with the message @msezellcr

It's been a great school year!  I look forward to seeing everyone next school year and seeing how much they've grown over the summer.  Good luck to the students moving on to 6th grade.  You will be missed.  Keep working hard and make us proud!  Have a fun and safe summer!  <3 Miss Ezell

End of Year

Dear Parents and families,

As we approach the end of another school year, I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with your children. It has been a busy and very successful school year for WCA teachers and students. They have been an absolute pleasure to teach and we have enjoyed watching them improve and succeed.

After this week, I will be discontinuing tutorials for the remainder of the year to give students time to relax before STAAR.  STAAR Math and Reading for 3rd and 4th grades will be taken on May 14th and 15th.  Retests for 5th grade will be on these days as well.  I want to give everyone a chance to unwind a little prior to STAAR.  We are rapidly reviewing for STAAR in the classroom daily!

Warmest regards,

Miss Ezell

Dear Parents,

This year we’ve been using an exciting educational game called Prodigy. Prodigy tests your child's ability and assigns them TEKS at the grade-level they are working at.  Once they master the TEKS it will move them up to the next grade-level.  While we use the program during school hours, students are encouraged to play with the same character at home to supplement their practice! Right now we are doing a STAAR correlated review on Prodigy.

I will be starting tutorials after mock testing is complete.  I will look at each student's test and decide if they would benefit from tutorials.  I want to be available for anyone who needs to get some extra help, so I plan to have both morning and afternoon tutorial sessions.  Please be on the look-out for a letter coming home in the next couple weeks with more information about tutorials.

Thanks,

Miss Ezell

CLASS INFORMATION:

We work to meet the individual needs of your children. Please help us by keeping open communication with Special Education teachers, General Education teachers, and all other specialized support services that your child receives(speech, OT, PT, etc). Continuing to practice at home will only make your child a stronger student and will help them retain information taught in class. This will also help them build a generalization across other contexts and environments.
