Happy Summer Break! Wishing you an enjoyable and safe summer. I will miss you all!
Summer is here! Be safe, have fun and keep studying those multiplication facts!
We will be having our Easter party from about 2-3 on Thursday, April 18th. Please contact me at Jdiaz@g-pisd.org if you did not receive the letter that I sent home last week. No school on Friday April 19th! Enjoy the long weekend!
Our first 9 weeks are down! We have lots of exciting things happening in the second nine weeks of school! Look for updates on events through the Remind App or in papers sent home with your children.
In Math, we will be starting Multiplication. It is so important for students to memorize the 0 to 10 facts. There are many free apps for phones and tablets for practicing multiplication. Flashcards can also be used, but these work best when students have someone to practice with or someone to quiz them. Even 5 minutes a day can make a big difference!
I am looking forward to meeting all of my wonderful third grade students this year!
Have a fun, safe and enjoyable summer!
We are currently working on Geometry in class. Students not only need to recognize and name geometric shapes, but be able to differentiate their specific attributes as well as be able to compare and contrast different geometric shapes. We will be completing many hands on activities to help with these skills!
Science Fair Project journals are due no later than Friday, February 9th. ALL 3rd graders must submit a project journal. The top 3 projects from each homeroom will be invited to create a science board of their project to be entered into the school Science Fair being held on February 21st.
We are going on a field trip on November 17th. Please look for the letter that was sent home for information regarding this field trip. Please contact your child's teacher if you did not receive it or need another copy. Thank you!
Students have begun to learn their multiplication facts! We have completed the zeros and ones and are currently working on the twos, fives, threes and tens. Students should be studying nightly. A great website for practice is www.multiplication.com

Originally from upstate New York, but since I have been here since 1997 I almost feel like a native! I live in Portland with my husband and four dogs! My dogs names are Thunder, Lightning, Cinnamon and Minnie. I love playing with them when I am not working. I also like to travel back to NY to visit my family and my favorite place - Disney World! I am also the proud mom of two grown daughters! Jessica is a 4th grade ELA teacher at Sinton Elementary and Alexandria is a baker at Hester's.
