May 18, 2017 - The following message was released via email to parents and staff of East Cliff Elementary School. We are closely monitoring the situation. Thank you.
East Cliff Parents & Staff,
We understand there has been concern regarding black dust found on vehicles, homes, and sidewalks in neighborhoods adjacent to East Cliff Elementary School. We have already been in contact with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and they are planning to visit the school this afternoon to collect any samples that may be found. We will then await their results for more accurate, scientific information, and will notify you if or when any additional updates may be necessary.
We appreciate your patience and support as we monitor the situation and continue doing everything we can to provide a clean, safe environment for our students and staff.
Thank you - G-PISD & East Cliff Administration

May 19, 2017 - Gulf Coast Growth Ventures (GCGV) has established a Project Construction Advisory Group as part of its Good Neighbor Program, and as agreed in its recently established Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the G-PISD School Board.
Representatives and public officials from local cities and counties will serve in this group, discussing issues related to traffic, community impacts, and project construction.
Until the G-PISD Board of Trustees is able to appoint a representative at its next regular meeting, Superintendent Dr. Paul Clore will attend an initial meeting for this group. He will ensure that all community concerns he is aware of are addressed. For example, he plans to present a recent question presented this week by the Portland Citizens United (PCU) group following their own review of GCGV's Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) application. This concern is related to control technology, and the level of protection it will provide to limit emissions.
Environmental concerns, as well as others, will continue to be a focus of the school district as it pertains to student safety at campuses near the project site. Any necessary updates will be posted to this web page.
For more specific information related to the project, please visit www.gulfcoastgv.com.
