GREGORY-PORTLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
DISCIPLINARY ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM
The Gregory-Portland ISD Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) is a program that provides students with an alternative educational setting after being removed from their home campus for violations of the GPISD Student Code of Conduct. This program provides students with an opportunity to continue with their academic work with the expectation that their behavior will be acceptable to avoid out-of-school suspension or expulsion.
The GPISD DAEP is under the authority of Board policy, the Student Code of Conduct, and the District Dress Code. Although not every detail can be covered in a handbook, efforts have been made here to provide the reader with an overview of what is expected of students at the GPISD DAEP.
The school day for DAEP students is from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Students will be required to arrive on time. Students will not be admitted after school begins and will be counted absent. The outside doors will be locked at 8:00 a.m. Parents must call prior to 8:00 a.m. to notify the school of any reason the student will be arriving late.
