National Honor Society

Dear Parents and Students,

Induction into Gregory-Portland's chapter of the National Honor Society will take place every year within the first 3 weeks of September.

At the start of the new school year, I will receive a finalized gpa from the prior high school years combined. At that point, students need to pass three hurdles before they are considered for eligibility as candidates. These 3 hurdles are: 1. a GPA of 95.0 or higher; 2. As a juinor, they must have successfully completed at least 4 advanced classes (adv, pre ap, ap, DC) and as a senior that number is 5; 3. Discipline referrals: They should not have any, but one minor is allowed (constitution defines major/minor offenses).

If they pass these 3 hurdles, then they will be sent a message via teams informing that that they have an electronic form that must be completed by the set date stated (usually 2-3 weeks from message date). Not completing it by that date removes them from eligibility.

That form combined with teacher evaluations, will guide the teacher advisory council as to which students will be allowed in, which will come in on probation, and which may not be allowed in due to evaluations combined with a referral issue.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Richard Donka, NHS Advisor
