G-P COMPETES AT LAKE TRAVIS TFA AND NIETOC QUALIFIER

G-P COMPETES AT LAKE TRAVIS TFA AND NIETOC QUALIFIER !

The Gregory-Portland speech and debate students competed this past weekend at the Austin-Lake Travis Texas Forensic Association (TFA) and National Individual Event Tournament of Champions (NIETOC) speech tournament where some students picked up state points and earned a NIETOC bid! Once a student earns two bids in a particular event, they will qualify for the NIETOC tournament held in May. Highlights of the meet include:

This past Saturday, our Speech and Debate Students competed at their first in-person tournament in over a year and a half. The small, but mighty group had a strong showing at the London TFA and started off the year on a good note.

Full results are as follows:

Riley Spencer - 2nd in Poetry and 4th in Program Oral Interpretation

Christian Kahl- 3rd in Prose

Samantha Gregory- 5th in Prose

Celeste Uribe- 5th in Program Oral Interpretation

Lily Stuart- 6th in Poetry

Ariel Castellano- Finalist in Congressional Debate

Kaitlyn Chandler- Finalist in Congressional Debate

Ashley Morehead- Finalist in Congressional Debate

The Varsity WildCats competed in the Leander Volleypalooza Tournament this past weekend in Austin. This tournament is one of the largest in the state with a total of 64 teams. We matched up with the best teams in the state and competed GREAT along with gaining knowledge and game experience to enhance our preparation for District!
