Cade Memorial Scholarship
John Cade, known to all as ‘Buddy,’ was a friend and supporter of Gregory-Portland ISD and the Gregory-Portland Wildcats. He had an unwavering love for students at G-P where his wife, Barbara Cade, was a longtime G-PHS principal. Buddy passed away March 24, 2024 and remained a Wildcat fan until his end.
Buddy spent his professional life in the industrial electrical industry. He worked with area refineries and industrial businesses to ensure the refineries ran smoothly and efficiently. Buddy had a strong respect for the trades, understanding first-hand the role a skilled work force plays in the overall success of industry and commerce.
Because of his commitment to students of G-PISD, his love for helping students in need, and his commitment to the industrial trades, this scholarship was established in his honor. His family desires to continue his efforts to support student success in continuing education. This scholarship focuses specifically on students attending trade school, community college, and certification in the trade skills. Graduating seniors can apply through the G-P Education Foundation Scholarship Awards process.
