We began the year by deciding which subject each student would like to specialize in this year. Students were able to pick 1 or 2 specialty subjects in which to complete an in-depth project to enrich their learning. The students have been researching everything from space probes to foreign wars to Greek mythology to screen writing.
We will be holding a Gifted & Talented showcase on April 21st at 7 p.m. in the GPJH cafeteria. Each 7th/8th grade student will display his or her projects from the year during this program.
7th Grade Updates:
This semester the 7th graders have begun conducting their own action research as a group project in Mrs. Ross's ELA classroom. They are utilizing stability balls, standing desks, and pedal exercisers as alternative classroom seating arrangements. The students are in charge of conducting surveys and collecting data about the effects of active seating on the classroom environment and student learning.

8th Grade Updates:
The 8th graders have begun a new collaboration this spring semester as well. These students are working together to share our local, state, and national culture with a classroom overseas. We will be exchanging a cultural box with our partners overseas in the next month. It is my hope the 8th grade G/T/ students will enjoy broadening their worldview while learning about cultures from around the globe.
