WHAT IS GCS?

>Grand Central Station is an award winning program that helps struggling students in a learning lab setting. This intensive academic intervention program offers a variety of services for qualifying students. Students receive the level of support they need across the curriculum to help them become successful, independent learners. As GCS teachers we collaborate with the classroom teachers and are prepared to work with students to help them improve their study and organizational skills as well.

The Jr. High Grand Central Station lab is located in room F118.

Who Qualifies for GCS Services?

student who desires to improve school performance
has parent or guardian permission
willing to work diligently
grades below a 75 in one or more classes

How is a Student Placed in GCS?

Teacher and/or parent contacts Mrs. Garcia our counselor
Observation forms are filled out.
An intervention committee meets and discusses if GCS or other services will benefit the student.

DO YOU HAVE 24 HOUR ACCESS TO YOUR CHILD'S GRADES?

Family Access from Skyward is a Web-based information and communication center designed to provide parents and guardians with the answer to, "How has my child been doing in school?" Your student's grades can be accessed 24 hours a day with the convenience of your own home computer. Please access a copy of the application form by clicking on Document Manager . To register for this service simply click, print and complete the Application form.

Once the form has been completed, each parent/guardian will need to bring the completed form and a government-issued picture ID to any campus on which you have a student enrolled. By signing and returning the Family Access Application Form, you are authorizing Gregory-Portland ISD to provide you with one login and password for all of your students in GPISD. Your login and password will be provided to you by the campus where you return the Application Form. Please allow up to two weeks for provision of the login and password.

Not only will you be able to access your student's current average, you will also be able to view the list of assignments with grades when you click on a particular average. This is a valuable tool to help you support your child in his/her efforts to stay organized and keep up with missing assignments.
